In just 5 hours... Trump's presidential campaign: We raised $4 million after news of his accusation in the "silent money" case

Donald Trump's presidential campaign announced it had raised more than $ 4 million in the 24 hours after news of the former US president's conviction from a Manhattan grand jury on charges related to his payment of money to cover up a previous relationship in the silent money case, according to Bloomberg, a US agency, Saturday, April 1, 2023.

News of the conviction was published on Thursday, 30 March, the day before the end of the quarterly campaign contributions report period, when federal candidates intensify fundraising efforts to show their strength of support.

In his fundraising email Friday, March 31, Trump said, "This is the fight I am willingly fighting, when I decided to take over 8 years ago, and be your voice."

In his letter, Trump pledged that the impact of these donations would be "1,500%." Trump is due to appear in court next Tuesday.

The Trump campaign said it received donations from all 50 states within 5 hours of announcing the news of the indictment, and that 25% donations came from new donors.

These figures cannot be confirmed until the campaign submits its first quarter report on 15 April. The campaign held less than $4 million at the beginning of the year after converting $68.9 million from the campaign's various accounts into a High Political Action Committee.

The specific charges brought against Trump by Manhattan County District Attorney Alvin Prague were not made public. But the Associated Press reported Friday that at least one of them is a criminal charge of paying money to silence pornographic film actress Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election to cover up a sexual relationship.

Michael Cohen, Trump's former lawyer, was convicted in 2018 of tax evasion and campaign finance violation to facilitate the payment of $130,000.
